These guilty pleas were the result of plea agreements with prosecutors following multiple arrests in connection with the stabbing of a local man.

On June 29, 2018 shortly after 2 am, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to a residence on S Bay Rd. in Pierre Part after receiving reports of a stabbing that had just occurred. Upon arrival, detectives made contact with the victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim advised that 4 subjects made forced entry into his residence. Upon making entry into the residence, the subjects began attacking the victim and his girlfriend. The victim advised that during the attack, Luis Ramirez repeatedly stabbed him with a pocket knife. Detectives were able to quickly identify and apprehend the 4 subjects in question who were identified as Luis Ramirez, Rachel Daigle, Tyler Sauce, and a juvenile. The victim was transported by Air Med to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries. All suspects were transported to the Criminal Investigation Division office for questioning. Detectives were able to obtain confessions from the parties involved which were consistent with the evidence located on the crime scene. All 4 subjects were subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, as per the plea agreements with prosecutors, Judge Verdigets ordered that Luis Ramirez be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 20 years on each count. The said sentences are to run concurrent with one another and are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

Rachel Daigle was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 1 year of the said sentence is to be served, and the remaining 2 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation.
