Napoleonville Man Sentenced Following Burglary of Local Business

On October 4, 2017, Kevin Wiggins of 141 Louis Ln. Napoleonville, LA., age 49, pled guilty to the charge of Simple Burglary. Wiggins was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following the burglary of an Assumption Parish convenience store.

On November 17, 2016, deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a Napoleonville convenience store in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies and detectives made contact with the owner of the store who advised that someone had made forced entry into the store and had taken cigarettes, alcohol, and a quantity of cash. Detectives reviewed surveillance video footage from the store and were able to identify the suspect as Kevin Wiggins. Detectives made contact with Wiggins who voluntarily met with detectives and eventually confessed to the burglary. Wiggins was subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Judge LeBlanc ordered that Wiggins be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 9 years with credit for time served.
