Morgan City Man Pleads Guilty to Illegal Firearm Possession

On August 28, 2017, Danny Reding of 161 Elaine St. Morgan City, LA., age 52, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Reding was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following an incident at a Bayou L’Ourse residence.

On December 19, 2014, deputies with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Bayou L’Ourse residence in reference to multiple gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with witnesses who advised that Danny Reding fired multiple gunshots outside of his residence, then locked himself inside of the residence with his minor child. After a short period, deputies made entry into the residence and engaged in a brief struggle with Reding. Reding was subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Judge Turner ordered that Reding be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 8 years. It was further ordered that the said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
