Morgan City Man Pleads Guilty to Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile

          On July 17, 2017, James Viscardis Jr. of 107 Honey Ln. Morgan City, LA., age 22, pled guilty to the charge of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. Viscardis was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors. 

          On August 18, 2016, detectives with the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office were contacted in reference to a report of a sexual assault. Detectives made contact with the female victim in this matter who was 13 years of age. During the course of an extensive investigation, detectives learned that James Viscardis Jr. had inappropriate sexual relations with the juvenile female on two occasions in Assumption Parish. Viscardis was subsequently arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center. 

          Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charge as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Judge Kliebert ordered that Viscardis be committed to the Louisiana Department of Corrections for a period of 6 years with credit for time served. In addition, Viscardis is required to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator.
