Livingston Parish Man Pleads Guilty to Vehicle Theft

On June 11, 2018, Brian Gibson of 24641 Setton Rd. Livingston, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle. Gibson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joni Buquoi, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2017 vehicle theft.

On September 13, 2017, detectives with the Gonzales Police Department responded to a local mechanic shop in reference to a vehicle theft. Upon arrival, detectives met with shop employees who advised that a male subject identified as Brian Gibson drove up in a Chevrolet Suburban and inquired about a Nissan Maxima that was for sale. Per Gibson’s request, he was allowed to test drive the Maxima. Gibson left the Suburban at the shop and never returned with the Maxima. Detectives were able to identify the Suburban as being stolen out of the New Orleans area. The Maxima was placed into NCIC as a stolen vehicle and on November 21, 2017, detectives were contacted by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office who had recovered the Maxima after a similar incident. After being arrested in Livingston Parish, Gibson confessed to the theft and advised that after stealing the Maxima it began running bad so he decided to get rid of it and stole another vehicle. Gibson was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charge, as per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Gibson was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
