On September 25, 2018, narcotics agents with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office were attempting to locate a subject identified as Kevin Lazo, who had warrants for his arrest stemming from a previous narcotics investigation. While working in the Prairieville area, agents observed a male subject pull into a store parking lot and park next to the vehicle driven by Lazo. Agents observed a male subject exit the vehicle, remove a black bag from the trunk, and get into Lazo’s vehicle. Agents approached the vehicle and detained the subjects. While agents were conducting a search of the interior of Green’s vehicle, Green was able to escape from the patrol car. Agents gave chase and apprehended him a short distance away. In Green’s vehicle, agents located a quantity of methamphetamine, heroin, and a handgun which had been reported stolen from East Baton Rouge Parish. Both subjects were transported to the Ascension Parish Detention Center where they were booked accordingly.

Following Lazo’s arrest, agents executed a search warrant at his home. During the search, agents located quantities of Xanax, Amphetamine, Cocaine, a digital scale, and a stolen handgun. Lazo was booked on additional charges pursuant to the search warrant.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Lazo was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
