SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of September 9 – September 13, 2019, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Gregory Holt, 14922 Central Woods Ave. Baton Rouge, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Sentencing is set for October 15, 2019.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

  1. Dejohn Scott, 9140 Water Tower St. Convent, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Simple Burglary (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Patrick Alsay, 1020 Peytavin St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The defendant is to serve 2 years of the said sentence, and the remaining 6 years are to be suspended. Upon release from incarceration, the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Chase Hilliard, 15308 Roy Rogers Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Leila Braswell. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Kelly Cavalier, 126 Rene St. Pierre Part, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Tonya Conner, 137 Derrick St. Pierre Part, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Jamie Ivy, 109 Andras St. Morgan City, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment, and Violation of a Protective Order. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
