During the week of September 2 – September 6, 2019, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Justin Poche, 43100 Poche Lane Gonzales, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. William Davis, 13099 L Landry Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Jason Johnson, 22417 Teal St. Maurepas, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Sale, Distribution, or Possession of a Legend Drug without Prescription or Order and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served.
  4. Casey Scott, 18024 Grace St. Prairieville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  5. Raheem Baptiste, 38410 Duplessis Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms. The defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  6. Michael Glover, 11314 W Main St. Gonzales, LA., age 57, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  7. Chiquita Webb, 215 E New River Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  8. Charles Mitchell, 801 Wellington St. Gonzales, LA., age 41, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
  9. Melvin Johnson, 4305 Hwy 42 Prairieville, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Battery of a Dating Partner. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served.
  10. Charles Marshall, 43177 Moore Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  11. Cole McDonald, 13785 Old River Rd. French Settlement, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  12. Cody Blake, 155 Short St. Ponchatoula, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  13. Derrick Parker, 501 Lisa St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Simple Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:

  1. Michael Kinsella, 411 Magnolia St. Slidell, LA., age 56, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Legend Drug without Prescription or Order. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner.

  1. Cyrus Hooper, 8199 Wood St. St. James, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Attempted Simple Burglary and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served.
