SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of September 12-September 16, 2016, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Ryan Barges, 1033 Nolan St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1 year supervised probation.
  2. Myrtle Brown, 215 Freddie St. Gonzales, LA., age 42, pled guilty to Leased Movables; Obtaining by False Representation, Failure to Return or Surrender, and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  3. Avery Cotton, 6411 Midway Rd. Carthage, MS., age 42, pled guilty to Hit and Run Driving. Sentencing was deferred to a later date. 
  4. Nicholas Gaudin, 25625 Gill Rd. Denham Springs, LA., age 18, pled guilty to Simple Burglary, and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 2 years of the imposed sentence are to be served, and the remaining 5 years of the imposed sentence are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation, and will placed on 1 year of electronic monitoring. 
  5. Levell Green, 11232 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Destin Kirkland, 15491 Shirley Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and Domestic Abuse Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  7. Lakeisha Marshall, 1305 Mckinley St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator. Sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. 
  8. Tony Naquin, 11722 Lewis Rd. Derrider, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Bank Fraud, and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  9. Sammy Salman, 44311 Erwin Villar Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Aggravated Battery, and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  10. Durwin Taylor, 3103 Ceasar Ln. Donaldsonville, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery and Violation of a Protective Order (2 Counts). On the charge of Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery, the defendant was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. It was ordered that 10 years of the impose sentence are to be suspended, and the defendant is to serve the remaining 5 years. On the charge of Violation of a Protective Order, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months on each count to run consecutive to one another. The imposed sentence on the charge of Aggravated in 2nd Degree Battery and the imposed sentence on the charge of Violation of a Protective Order are to run concurrent with one another.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Shawn Bush and Phil Maples. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

 

  1. Rashad Bridges, 1542 Galaxy Blvd. Darrow, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. On the charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, the defendant was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. This sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. On the Charge of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  2. Roderick Bourgeois, 10330 Burnside St. Convent, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $750 or more, but less than $5000 (2 counts). The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count, to run concurrent with one another. The imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation.
  3. Oseco Diggs, 10349 Legion St. Convent, LA., age 23, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Resisting an Officer. On the charge of Aggravated Flight from an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. On the charge of Resisting an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail.
  4. Jason Leachman, 41393 Aqua Marine Ave. Gonzales, LA., previously pled guilty to DWI 3rd Offense and Vehicular Negligent Injuring and sentencing was deferred pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On the charge of DWI 3rd Offense, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Vehicular Negligent Injuring, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months parish jail. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  5. Julian Earl, 37371 Hwy 30 Geismar, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Resisting an Officer. On the charge of Aggravated Flight from an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. On the charge of Resisting an Officer, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
