SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 7 – October 11, 2019, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Keron Landry, 4404 Marchand School Rd. Darrow, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Jason Messer, 6358 Fordouche Rd. Fordouche, LA., age 38, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.
  3. Lauren Simpson, 12343 Steve Gautreau Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  4. Amanda Keating, 43075 Earl Bercegeay Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  5. Shane Grigsby, 8103 Fitzgerald Rd. Denham Springs, LA., age 65, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Resisting an Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving Under Suspension, False Certificates, No Seatbelt, Improper Equipment, and Temporary Registration Plates Issued by Dealers. The defendant was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Brandon Irwin, 18057 Woodhaven Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served.
  7. Kyle Burdiss, 32128 Rudy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  8. Brittany Landry, 10920 Airline Hwy Baton Rouge, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 1-year supervised probation.
  9. Kelly Price, 37117 Anderson Rd. Geismar, LA., age 36, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  10. Agustin Martinez-Torres, 14283 Oak Meadow St. Gonzales, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Resisting an Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. 
  11. Matthew Brouillette, 479 Shell Beach Rd. Pierre Part, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  12. April Fontenot, 602 W Worthey Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.
  13. Viltris Gibbs, 8510 Pertuis Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.
  14. Kyle Fletcher, 15179 John West Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Branden Landry, 712 Hwy 402 Napoleonville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Kaleb Smith, Morgan City, LA., age 19, pled guilty to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation. 
  3. Sheldon Simoneaux, 151 Daggs St. Belle Rose, LA., age 43, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

St. James Parish:

  1. Bervick Phillips III, 13207 Desire St. Vacherie, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.
