SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of October 16-October 20, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish: 

  1. Nicholas Ray, 40230 Germany Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  2. Alton Francewar, 48414 Whiskey Ln. Tickfaw, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Felony Theft and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  3. John Sanchez, 12645 Centerra Ct. Baker, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Negligent Homicide and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Todd Tripp, Gonzales, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of Child Pornography (10 Counts) and Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. Formal sentencing was deferred to a later date.
  5. Courtney James, 1532 St. James Dr. Donaldsonville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 6 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.
  6. Bria Kirklin, 3562 Hwy 44 Paulina, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Shawn Bush. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

  1. Matthew Everett, 15280 Holton Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Armed Robbery and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the charge of Armed Robbery, the defendant was sentenced to 10 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run consecutive to one another.
  2. Tod Braud, 404 W Live Oak St. Gonzales, LA., age 46, pled guilty to Obscenity and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  3. Joseph Farhat, 9039 St. Landry St. Gonzales, LA., age 28, pled guilty to Domestic Abuse Battery and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  4. Delerious Wilson, 2824 S Burnside Ave. Gonzales, LA., age 22, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and was sentenced to 1 year at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Eugene Lyons, 9318 Martinique Dr. Baton Rouge, LA., age 25, pled guilty to Attempted Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Randy Joseph, 508 Veterans Blvd. Donaldsonville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Theft of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 1 year in the parish jail with credit for time served.
  7. Johnny Everett, 17221 Milton Dr. French Settlement, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Simple Robbery and was sentenced to 4 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  8. Dante Hardnett, 2245 Valley St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and was sentenced to 8 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  9. Glenn Guedry, 11058 Beco Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 58, pled guilty to Public Intimidation and was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  10. Steven McDaniel, 838 E Rome St. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Battery and Home Invasion. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. It was ordered that the imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.
  11. Nelson Scott, 44305 Hwy 22 Prairieville, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years at hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

 

Assumption Parish:

  1. Craig Herbert, 211 Lucky St. Plattenville, LA., age 27, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  2. Jenna Landry, 313 Aristille Rd. Bayou L’Ourse, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.
  3. Ciara Leonard, 1245 Hwy 402 Napoleonville, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution and Simple Battery. On the charge of Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution, the defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Simple Battery, the defendant was sentenced to 30 days in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.

St. James Parish:

  1. Harold Pierite, 287 Cocville Rd. Mansure, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 5 years supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.
