SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of July 23-July 27, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Jake Prine, 15060 Keri Dr. Prairieville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Flight from an Officer and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 3 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Murphy Williams Jr., 138 A Virginia St. Belle Rose, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Jerry Poe, 150 Elaine St. Bayou L’Ourse, LA., age 55, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.  

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

  1. Christopher Landry, 169 Hwy 401 Napoleonville, LA., age 44, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.
  2. Tyrone Scott Jr. 120 Rose St. Labadieville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Conspiracy to Commit Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Conspiracy to Commit Possession or Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Institution. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.  

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

St. James Parish:

  1. Michael Smith, Mandeville, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.
