SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of January 9-January 13, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Porsche Favorite, 518 East Great Haven St. Gonzales, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.

2. Tyler Everett, 42553 Hwy 42 Prairieville, La., age 22, pled guilty to Theft of Assets of Aged Person or Disabled Person and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Joni Buquoi and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.

Assumption Parish:

Assumption Parish had no court news to report this week.

St. James Parish:

1. Joseph Stout, 39532 Brignac Rd. Paulina, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Simple Criminal Damage to Property over $500 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

2. Jason Gaudet, 8337 Oak St. Sorrento, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Theft over $1500 and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 4 years supervised probation.
