SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of January 21-January 25, 2019, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Nicholas Edwards, 11117 Johnnie Mae Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 24, pled guilty to Simple Arson and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Rendon Taylor, 39292 Hwy 22 Darrow, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.  

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kenneth Dupaty and Steven Tureau. Presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Charles Nora, 118 Belle Point Lane Napoleonville, LA., age 52, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. Sentencing was deferred to a later date.
  2. Torie Lewis, 108 Marshall Lane Napoleonville, LA., age 18, pled guilty to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (2 counts) and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert.

St. James Parish:

  1. Nicole Gros, Pierre Part, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule V Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 3 ½ years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Bruce Mohon, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets.
