SERVING ASCENSION, ASSUMPTION & ST. JAMES PARISHES

During the week of April 2-April 6, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

  1. Kenneth Warner, 233 D’Ville Village, Donaldsonville, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. Cody Bradley, 8028 B Hendrick St. Baton Rouge, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  3. Clyde Picou, 11232 Roddy Rd. Gonzales, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  4. Macartahur Williams, 35120 N Hwy 1 Donaldsonville, LA., age 48, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Theft. The defendant was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  5. Donald Norris, 40456 Causey Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  6. Justin Lane, 188 Homewood Place Reserve, LA., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  7. Charles Smith, 5207 Seneca Dr. Darrow, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (3 counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections at hard labor with credit for time served.
  8. James Patton, 16019 Airline Hwy Prairieville, LA., age 26, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids, and Resisting an Officer. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.
  9. Henry Tidwell, 45067 Gold Place Rd. St. Amant, LA., age 50, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charles “Chuck” Long, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg.

Assumption Parish:

  1. Robert Wyatt II, 272 Vivian St. Morgan City, LA., age 31, pled guilty to Theft Valued at $1,000 or More, but Less than $5,000 and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
  2. John Shibley, 225 Glenwood St. Morgan City, LA., age 50, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 7 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

St. James Parish:

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
