Brown was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Phil Maples, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Thomas Kliebert. This guilty plea was result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2018 arrest.

On March 19, 2018 shortly after midnight, deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a Donaldsonville residence in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant who advised that she was awakened by a male subject standing over her bed. Brown was in possession of the clothing described by the complainant. After being possibly identified as the subject who entered the residence, Brown was arrested and transported to the Ascension Parish Detention Center where he was booked accordingly.
