Darrow Man Pleads Guilty to Illegal Drug Possession

On October 9, 2019, Keron Landry of 4404 Marchand School Rd. Darrow, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Landry was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Charles “Chuck” Long, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Tess Stromberg. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following a 2018 narcotics investigation.

On March 8, 2018, narcotics agents with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle during the course of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Agents activated emergency lights and sirens in attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled in the vehicle through the Gonzales area. The driver of the vehicle eventually stopped and fled on foot into a wooded area. While chasing the subject on foot, agents observed the subject toss a black backpack. Agents lost sight of the subject but were able to recover the backpack. During a search of the backpack, agents located quantities of cocaine, heroin, and marijuana. Agents were able to identify the subject who fled and discarded of the backpack containing the drugs as Keron Landry. A warrant of arrest was issued for Landry who was subsequently arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Detention Center.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Landry was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to run concurrent with the 8-year sentence Landry was given following a plea to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon on September 17, 2019.
